Founded in 2022 by Dr Jamie-Lee Rahiri and Dr Jason Tuhoe
A Kaupapa Māori hub of excellence in General Practice and General Surgery delivering clinical research, clinical care, governance expertise and strategic health consultancy to advance the wellbeing of our communities.
We operate both as individuals and as a collective in genuinely caring for all people we work with. We engage in mana-enhancing processes from start to finish and ensure that our key stakeholders looked after throughout the research processes we institute.
The pursuit of new ways of thinking and practicing lies at the core of our mahi. We endeavour to find solutions utilising hard data and pride ourselves on being able to undertake mixed methodological research. With strong partnerships outside of Te Piringa Kōtuku we are able to ensure that our projects are robust and culturally safe throughout the research process.
Whilst Te Piringa Kōtuku is committed to its partnerships with other organisations and individuals, our institution is Kaupapa Māori meaning that it is led, refined and controlled by Māori. This allows us to be self-determining and self-governing so that we may be innovative and pragmatic.
